Which convenience check do you want? They all look the same but are applied differntly. The only way to tell is to read teh print included on the check or included with the check. Usually the checks come in a group of 3 or four printed together. Often each of those checks can be different so read each one of them.

Cash Advance check
The worst way to make a balance transfer is with the cash advance check. It gives you access to your available cash advance portion of your credit card limit. It is usually less than the entire available limit even on a never used credit card. The cash advance rate on the majority of credit cards is close to 20% if not higher. The issue

Whether for purchases, balance transfers or cash advances this check may start with a low apr like 0%, 1.9, 2.9%, etc. but will switch over time in 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, etc. to a higher stated apr or to your purchase or cash advance apr under your credit terms at the time of the switch.
